The food is excellent!! The food is consistent which is nice. I eat in and will sometimes get it to go. My order is always correct. The customer service is amazing. Everyone there is always friendly. They also have lunch specials during the week. The inside is always very clean and smells great. I have eaten at several Thai restaurants and have yet to find a better recipe. I highly recommend Thai Wok.

This is THE BEST Thai restaurant in St. Pete., hands down. GREAT food! Super friendly staff/owners. I've been coming here for MANY years and have never been disappointed. If you're in a rush, go to McDonalds. This is a place where you sit, relax, savor the food, and ENJOY a pleasant experience. The masaman curry is to die for! And don't forget a nice glass of plum wine...

Pad Thai is excellent. Get it extra spicy! It's a little pricey for the portions they serve in my opinion, but that doesn't keep me away. I always get mine to go, so I can't comment on service.

Never have had a bad meal here. Incredible curry dishes and generous amount of food. Wait staff are the best as well. Never run low or out of anything. Highly recommended!!!!!!

Great Thai food in the 4th street /Gandy area. Lunch specials are affordable ($7 -$9) and prepared quickly (usually with 15 minutes). I usually get take out during the week and the staff is always very professional and friendly! Food itself always is fresh tasting and perfect lunch sized portion. Spicy designated dishes are not painfully spicy so make sure to ask for extra spicy if you like your Thai food fiery hot.

I had gone to this place before but I just recently learned that it is Cambodian owned by family friends of my Cambodian sorority sister, who are in-laws of the Janet Mittendorf owners. Small world! I am so happy that they don't force an obligatory, waistline-threatening glob of white rice on you and politely ask you how much you would like. I ordered the Pad Prik Kaprao (basil stir fry) chicken and it was on point. My friend had the Thai Wok delight which also looked quite good. I had the vegetable soup as well, bean-sprout free, and I was happy. I will be back!

I didn't even know this place was here. It's literally right next to the grocery store I frequent, I just never ventured to that side of the parking lot lol. It's a small restaurant and the interior is nicely decorated. Lovely live orchids and bamboo plants everywhere. Lots of regular customers- I could tell by their interactions with the server and the lady (owner?) that was here. Lots of smiles by everyone here, I felt very comfortable. We ordered the spring roll and curry pop appetizers, chicken pad see ew, and chicken fried rice. Spring rolls were nice and crunchy. They came out nicely presented- two egg rolls cut into threes. The curry pops- ground pork and sweet potato filling seasoned with curry wrapped in a won ton skin and then fried. Yum! My pad see ew was good. Seasoned in a light, sweet sauce. I'm used to the sauce being a bit darker and more flavorful, but I still enjoyed it. My son liked his fried rice- it was a little bland to me and tasted kind of burnt maybe? But he ate most of it and he's pretty picky lol. Service was excellent and I guess it's supposed to be more fine dining than those other places (cloth napkins here, no paper!) Will most likely be back if I ever need a Thai fix.

Good service, but the food isn't particularly good. The appetizers were decent, but my entree was bland compared to the Thai food I typically eat.

This place is fantastic, food and service is great. Value of portions is great too.

Cambodia owners, but delicious food. The owners are so nice, they catered a school function for me. Very generous in food and giving back to the community and charity. A must try!

Classy place, quality eats. This small restaurant focuses on customer service and amazing Thai dishes. This venue is perfect for a romantic dinner or a quiet lunch. The Mee Grob appetizer is fantastic. Every time I go, I make sure to order the Tom Kha Kai soup. Every Curry dish I have tried has been great, my favorite is the Red Curry with steak. The Crispy Duck is also delicious. Thai Wok is situated in a strip mall next to a Cody's; don't judge this book by the cover.

I am giving this this place a 4/5 because this place has great Thai food around the area. Also, the ambience is clean and welcoming. My family and I had dinner here with a friend. Apparently, they are regulars in this place as well as many other people. When we arrived, there were not as many people so it made me question whether the food is great but the food was great and possibly due to the very rainy weather that people were just ordering food to go and not eating at the restaurant. However, people started trickling in for dinner as we finished our food. 2 stars - for great food! I ordered the Panang curry and I wish it was more spicy so ask your server if you can have more spice to it if you like spicy food. The server can also explain to you the level of spiciness so just ask your server. Otherwise, the server can give you the spicy flakes as well if you were not able to mention the spiciness level. I also tried the Pad Thai and crispy noodles. I like the softness of the Pad Thai and I think it was just perfect. Also, THEY HAVE UNLIMITED RICE!! As the girl who grew up eating rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the unlimited rice just really caught my eye! So if you love eating rice, this is the place to be. 1 star - for awesome service. Our server was pretty helpful and they already know my family and the food they order because they are regulars. It is always nice to have servers remember their regulars. It just shows how much they value their customers. 1 star - for a welcoming and clean ambience. Also, clean bathrooms! -1 star - just because they did not have big servings. The food is so great that it needs to come in bigger servings. I wanted to try their Thai tea but I don't think they have it or I just did not look close enough. LOCATION: It is next to a barber shop that is close to a brewery house in a shopping plaza. I am not really familiar with this area. However, there is a huge parking lot because it is in a shopping plaza so parking is not an issue. Overall, I recommend this place to everyone. I would definitely come back here to try other dishes in their menu.

After discovering this neighborhood gem I have frequented it numerous times, the latest for take out on a football night. Had the stuffy wing, not greasy, very tasty. The pork laab, always good and served with spicy chilis. The sweet potato rolls (like little empanadas). For dinner had the chicken panang curry and the tofu pad thai. Both delicious and served with tons of rice for the curry. Food is always hot and fresh, service is friendly, orders are always correct. Got to love that about a place!

This is my best friend family's favorite spot to eat! I remember coming to lunch with her once before and now that I work in the area, I have been getting lunch from here every Friday. The staff is super friendly, no matter what, busy or not. Very welcoming environment. They food is very good. I haven't had everything on the menu, but what I have had is good. It's the closest thing I'll have to my mother in laws cooking. My go to place for lunch on Fridays!

Tucked away over by Cody's. Very friendly staff, great atmosphere and quick service. Try the Pad Thai and red curry.

The pad thai was way too sweet and saucy and the panang curry was nothing special. We wanted to see if this was up to par with Thai Am and Sila Thai (our faves) since this restaurant had good reviews. We were sadly disappointed and will not be returning.

This place is so relaxing and clean and quiet. Our waiter was incredibly attentive; the service was amazing. The lunch special was very reasonable. The chicken and broccoli and the sweet & sour chicken dishes are very tasty! The portions were pretty good, and I did not feel like I was going to have a heart attack after consuming this meal. Overall, very pleased.

This place has quickly become my favorite ThI restaurant, even though there are three Thai places closer to my house. They have the holy trinity of excellent restaurants: Phenomenal food, Knowledgeable/friendly staff, and Great prices. The dining room is small, but because of that, you always have unobtrusive attention from your server. The food is authentic and perfectly cooked (every time!) and the owners/staff and genuinely kind and generous people. If you're in the fence, take a chance on this place. You won't be disappointed. My recommendations: the Panang curry (medium hot) with chicken for the spice lovers and the Phad Woo Seen with seafood for those looking for a milder dish with lots of flavor.

I love Thai Wok not only due to location, but due to their excellent customer service. On average I eat there or get take out twice a week. They already know me well, and have always strived towards friendly service. Knowing what I go through with UC, they always ensure my food is prepared the way I can eat it. They are always prompt and on time. I love their food!

Super Fresh ingredients and excellent service. A good deal for lunch. $10 will get you full but not leaving you feel like you ate too much.

Hands down, best.thai.food.in.town ! The food is phenomenal and the service is fantastic! This restaurant is a family run business and you can definitely tell. As soon as you step into the restaurant, you are treated like family. My boyfriend and I frequent here quite often. Our go-to is the garlic and black pepper and the red curry, but everything on the menu is delicious and made with love. This restaurant is a hidden gem found in between Cody's and Winn Dixie. We love this place!

Based on the recommendation of a friend we ordered dinner from Thai Wok tonight. I had the Chicken Pad Thai and my boyfriend had the Garlic and Pepper Beef- we both loved our meals! Some of the best Thai food we've ever had. I have lived in the area for quite awhile and I'm both upset I just discovered this gem and excited to return in the future! I would like to try dining in next time.

After a few recent lunches, Thai Wok is competing for my favorite Thai restaurant. Here is why-- the food is noticeably fresh and cooked without drowning in oils or sauces. The veggies really stand out here. I have been delighted with every item, spring rolls, soup, stir frys, pad Thai, you name it. The service is so nice and the atmosphere is very calming with wooden panels and fresh cut flowers at every table. I can always get a 3 course meal finished in plenty of time for my lunch break. Don't let the fact that it is in a shopping plaza fool you. Stop in! A bit higher for the $ for lunch, but a well worthy treat.

This is one of my favorite places to get lunch. They have amazing portions for a reasonable price, and they are always so friendly. My office is just across the street, so getting there for lunch is easy. Thai Wok has a wide menu of options for lunch and dinner, and they have great hours. I have eaten inside the restaurant twice, but most of my orders are to go. The inside is quiet and inviting. My favorite dishes are Pad Thai and the Pad Se Ew. I have yet to try the Panang Curry, but I hear from friends that it is one of the best in town. They have great spring rolls, and their stuffy wing is very good. I highly recommend Thai Wok as the place to get your Thai food in the Gateway area.

I have to update this to a 3 because I found a better Thai place in the area with more flavor and I just really don't know if/when I'll be back to Thai Wok. It is conveniently located for me so I guess never say never.

This was some of the best Thai food I have had in a long time. The Thai hot was really crazy hot so avoid that. The mushroom/shrimp soup was delicious. The overall decor was great. Above all, try the Thai tea. I must admit i have no idea what was in it. But it was good! I'll be back.

Just tried out this place for the first time. We had the red curry and pad see ew. Both dishes came out quickly and were great. Definitely some of the best thai food I have had in the area. The restaurant is small, but very clean and the wait staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Only wish they had a duck curry dish.

  • David G.

My favorite Thai restaurant in the area! The service is as excellent as the food. We usually go here once a week and they provide a fantastic take out service as well. They always offer to adjust the spices according to your tolerance level and the portions are perfect. Our favorite is the Tom Ka Kai soup and the Red Curry with Chicken... If you like Thai food than you will love Thai Wok

Completely overpriced for absolutely nothing good. The lunch costs twice as much as any good Thai place, and it doesn't even include soup or eggroll. THe portions were two bite-fulls of bland oversauced dishes. I do not recommend anything here.

I've been getting Thai food here 3-4 times a year since 1996, and it has never been anything less than delicious. While their dishes are not unusually creative renditions of Thai specialties, the cooking is competent and consistent, the ingredients taste fresh, and the staff is always pleasant. Depending on what type of Thai food you like, this place will either amaze you or satisfy you. My personal favorities are Pad Thai (Shrimp), Steak Thai (w/ Red Curry sauce), Crispy Duck, Pad See Eiw, and Pad Woon Sen. The Pad Thai tends to run a bit sweet; that's correctable with a little fresh lime squeezed on top. Spiciness is completely adjustable, and you get exactly the level you ask for. Their Tom Kha Kai soup is creamy coconut wonderfulness, and appetizers such as Tod Mun Kai, Stuffy Wing (sic), and Mee Grob are unusual and delicious. I mostly get take-out, and the staff is unfailingly polite and pleasant. The atmosphere inside can only be described as soothing- this is a great place for a quiet dinner with friends and family. I have taken parental units here, and they have been suitably impressed and enjoyed the food immensely. This is cuisine that offers a rich sensory experience, and somehow makes you feel really good before, during, and after eating it. Located in a small strip mall between Cody's and a Winn Dixie at the northern end of 4th Street North, Thai Wok has plenty of free parking right in front. Any restaurant that's been in business more than 17 years, while maintaining a consistently high quality of food and service, get my vote! While the dishes here are the generally accepted American versions of Thai cuisine and no culinary barriers are broken, for reliable and always tasty Thai, this is my go-to establishment. I feel good every time I eat here.

First, let me start out by saying that I just moved into the Gateway Neighborhood a couple weeks ago. I was super excited that directly across the street from my new diggs was a strip mall containing every type of Asian cuisine possible. After migrating from the Pacific Northwest to Miami 10 years ago, I have been on a never ending search for authentic Asian cuisine, hot enough to please my palette Thai Wok did not disappoint. I went with my mother the first night after settling into my new home. The place is small and charmingly decorated. My mother ordered Namsod pork and the Frog legs for her entrée. I greedily helped her eat the pork, which was spiced with just enough lime and ginger, and packed a little spice punch at the end. She also seemed to have no trouble finishing her Frog legs (I don't eat such things, just because I have things for reptiles and amphibians, and it would be equated to eating my cat). Mind you, my mother lived in France for years and has visited some of the world's top French restaurants, so for her to be so pleased with a specialty such as this, is a great compliment to the chef. I ordered the Tom Yum Goong (a spicy lemon grass, limey , soup with succulent shrimps and mushrooms) to start and Phad Woon Sen ( almost like Phad Thai but with silver noodles instead and no peanuts) with pork for my entrée (both hot). Now, I never know when visiting a new Thai restaurant about their levels of spice. In Miami, it took several visits to convince the workers that I only look like a white girl, but I can take some serious heat! Anyways, the soup was delicious as were the noodles... like shockingly so. I ate everything on my plate in record time! The only issue I had was that it wasn't hot enough for me. The charming waiter (Henry I believe his name is, I hope I got that right...I'm the worst when it comes to names!) brought out a spice caddy for me to play around with, which is nice, but he went further by telling me that the next time I come in, request double thai hot and no onions (I have a thing with texture, it's not that uncommon). Needless to say, I left that night stuffed to the brim, mouth tingling, and insanely happy to have this place so close to me! Last night, I had a few cocktails and went over to order some take-out, because really what is better than being inebriated and eating scorching hot Thai noodles on a Saturday night?! Nothing in my opinion, and I'm sure a chef such as Anthony Bourdain would back me up on that. To my surprise (keep in mind, I've been living in douchebag central Miami for the past ten years) they remembered me immediately, and my special instructions on how I like my food... To me that is amazing and will buy m loyalty to them for as many years as they are open. I mean, maybe I am the only crazy chick ordering food this way in the area, so I am easy to remember, but I doubt it. I think these are just great people making great food!... and yes the noodles were so hot I cried like a baby and felt I had a dragon breathing fire in my stomach, which is exactly the authenticity and taste I was going for!

Granted I'm a bit biased when it comes to Thai - my friends' father is the chef at Saigon Bistro in Miami. This has spoiled me in regards to amazing Thai. That said, I really love Thai Wok for Lunch. One day I'll have to try them for dinner. Everything on the lunch menu is less than $8 and the portions are more than enough to get you full. I'm going down the list and everything has been great - though so far the Panang Curry is my favorite. The veggies are fresh, the meat flavorful and the sauce saucy. The serving staff is also very polite and helpful - especially when you want extra spices. Sadly there is usually only one or two waiters during lunch, so be patient when the place gets packed and they seem to be running around - they keep their cool throughout. We've started to go once a week. Still have plenty left on the menu to try.

Best fried spring rolls in St.Pete! I also ordered the Chicken and Broccoli, if you like it spicy make sure you ask.

Decent small place- the usual Thai dishes, prices are fair, maybe a we bit higher than expected

High expectations based on other's review. OK chicken pantang but the soup with shrimp was in-edible. The two pieces of shrimp were completely overcooked and had tails on. I'm not sure how it was prepared but threw it out. Paid $14 for chicken/soup/rice only (no egg rolls). Restaurant has an odd smell to it, almost soapy, not pleasant.

  • Fulei N.

The food here is amazing & the service was quite personable. I enjoyed that they can make the food as spicy or mild as you want it. Def try the curry panang, I had it w/ shrimp & it was amazing!!! The amt u get is so worth it & is freshly cook. A great place for an amazing intimate dinner or a solo deal, your choice. Enjoy!

  • Sum G.

Their Pad Thai is a bit too sweet and over priced. $10 for some chicken and noodles!? The rest of their food is just okay but also overpriced for their portion sizes.

  • Sandy J.

This is a pretty decent Thai restaurant. I've only ordered take-out here, but from the dishes I've ordered I wasn't disappointed. I've had better, but it was still good. So try it if you're in the area and are craving Thai food.

  • Darren P.

This is to counter Adam F.'s idiotic 'comment' about the establishment not being open on Sunday. It's St. Pete, so there are not many Asian places open on Sunday. Yes, it sucks, but there is no reason to leave a single star for a good business. Have a great day!

  • Robin B.

The place was EMPTY during dinner hour on a Thursday and as I discovered, with good reason. Over-priced for nothing. Portions were meager except they give you TONS of clumpy rice b/c it is cheap. I'm not sure it was even Jasmine. For me, the acid test for a Thai restaurant is the phad thai. Where do I begin with theirs? Way too much tamarind and sugar, too wet, had the wrong sized noodles for that dish (may explain the wetness) and where were the peanuts, cilantro, lime, fresh cabbage and thanks for the 2 chops of green onion and 4 slivers of carrot. If I'm paying $12-14 for phad thai it better have lots of fresh ingredients in it! Take the tails off of the shrimp for this dish. It's not shrimp COCKTAIL. AND they were overcooked which means they were frozen, already cooked shrimp dumped in the dish too soon!! Do I need to come show you how to make phad thai? People, don't be disappointed and waste your hard-earned money. I have eaten in lots of Thai restaurants all over the country from CA to FL and this one is at the bottom of the barrel.

Great chicken panang. Service was exceptional. Having the ability to pick your heat level is nice. A 7 is not that hot.

  • Jenna R.

I haven't had too much Thai food, but this was very good. I had the red chicken curry, and ordered medium, which I would've considered mild. I will be in the area a lot over this next year and will go back!

  • Charlie K.

This is my go-to place if I'm in the mood for Thai. Always friendly service and a good selection of dishes that can be as mild or as spicy as you want. I recommend any of the curries (my favorite is the red with chicken) and the duck entree.

    (4)
  • Steven M.

Really enjoyed the Pad Thai. Wish the portions were larger but the price is right for its size. They use real spice levels such as medium, medium hot, and hot rather than 1, 2, and 3. Will eat here again.
